So when 10-year-old Jeanine Nicarico was abducted from her home in the quiet suburb of Naperville, Illinois and found dead two days later, the public demanded justice. This troubling program traces the ordeal of Rolando Cruz and Alex Hernandez, who were almost immediately picked up and charged with the brutal crime. Despite a suspicious, circumstantial case against them which led one of the investigators on the case to resign they were found guilty and sentenced to die. But Cruz who talks about his ordeal in detail fought a decade-long battle from death row to prove his innocence. In one of the most dramatic reversals in the history of the American legal sytem, Cruz and Hernandez finally walked free in 1995, and their prosecutors now face charges of misconduct that could land them in prison.
